Boone Co. Fire warns of elevated fire danger Thursday, Friday

The Boone County Fire Protection District is warning Mid-Missourians of the elevated fire risk on Thursday and Friday.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack weather team said a Fire Weather Watch will go into effect Thursday from 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. for areas west of Highway 63 due to low dew points which indicate dry air, dry ground, and gusty south-southwest winds up to 30 mph in the afternoon. Winds will be sustained between 15-25 mph.

Fire crews discourage any outdoor burning through Thursday and Friday due to the potential of fires spreading quickly with the windy and dry conditions.

Firefighters warn that if a controlled burn gets out of control and damage’s someone’s property, whoever started the fire is liable for the damage.
