Wintery Precipitation May Complicate Valentine’s Day Travel Plans

Traveling via roadways on Valentine’s day may become hazardous as an upper level disturbance drops southeastward into the Mid-Missouri region overnight.

Light snow is expected to begin overnight and continue to spread southeastward by tomorrow morning. By about 6AM-7AM tomorrow morning, a changeover to freezing drizzle will be possible for areas to the south of of I-70 as a warm, southerly flow warms temperatures aloft while surface temperatures remain below freezing. The freezing drizzle is expected to be patchy in nature, with only a glazing of ice possible. However, this can still make roads slick, especially for raised surfaces and untreated areas, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory for the majority of Mid-Missouri until noon for the Ozarks region and 6pm for our central and eastern areas.
