Drunk driver hits front of Columbia restaurant
A man is in custody Thursday morning after ramming his car into the front of a downtown Columbia restaurant.
Clinton Daniels was arrested on charges of felony leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated.
It happened shortly before 1 a.m. at Umbria Rustic Italian restaurant on Elm Street.
Police said witnesses reported Daniels crashing into the front and then driving away.
An off duty officer followed Daniels until another officer could pull him over.
They stopped him on the University of Missouri campus. Police said he refused medical attention so he did not go to the hospital.
ABC17 News observed crews repairing the building at about 5:15 Thursday morning.
