IRS branch in Jefferson City closed through next week

One U.S. representative spoke out Wednesday after learning the Jefferson City branch of the IRS will be closed through next week.

The office has been closed since January 25, and will be until February 12.

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer demanded from the IRS a plan to help Mid-Missouri taxpayers.

Luetkemeyer in a release Wednesday, “With tax season in full swing, it is completely unacceptable the only IRS office in mid-Missouri is closed,” Luetkemeyer said. “Many individuals in the 3 rd District have started the process of gathering documents needed to file their taxes but now is there is no way to get answers to any questions they may have.”
