UPDATE: Lockdown lifted at Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico

An administrator at Missouri Veteran’s Home confirmed the building was temporarily on lockdown Sunday.

Administrator Brenda Ezell told ABC 17 News the lockdown started around 3:15 p.m. It was lifted around 4:00 p.m.

The Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the facility for reported threats around 2:30 p.m, according to Mexico Public Safety.

A man called the facility asking for an employee who was not on duty at the time, Mexico Public Safety said. The man cursed on the phone and said he would be coming to the facility with a gun. The building was then put on lockdown.

Mexico Public Safety said it appears the threats were made by an ex-boyfriend of the employee who was trying to get the employee fired by causing a disturbance at the facility. Officials do not believe the man is in currently in the Mexico area. Mexico Public Safety says it has been in touch with the employee, who is fine.
