Former DJ arrested for weekend shooting in central Columbia

A well-known community figure, Curtis Soul Brown, 71, bonded out after his arrest on Thursday for last weekend’s shooting in central Columbia.

Police say a fight broke out between Brown and another man at a home near Sexton and McBaine on Saturday, before Brown pulled a gun and started firing rounds. Bullets hit a nearby car and home, but no one reported any injuries.

Brown has reached out to ABC 17 News, claiming he was shooting at people in self-defense while they were trying to rob him.
