Wanted man arrested after two-county chase

A Holts Summit man is in the Cole County Jail facing multiple charges after leading police on a chase through two counties late Wednesday night.

Just before midnight on January 27 a Jefferson City police officer tried to pull over Zachary Phillips, 25, near the 200 block of Jefferson Street. Phillips was known to have felony warrants out for his arrest for probation violation and dangerous drugs.

Phillips took off and a pursuit began. The chase went on to Highway 54 East, then to Airport Road, before continuing onto Highway 94 and then through Holts Summit. Law enforcement said the chase eventually ended on Highway 54-South Summit Drive overpass.

Phillips then started to flee on foot, but an officer caught up with him and arrested him shortly after.

Phillips is facing charges of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, failure to register a vehicle, as well as careless and reckless driving.

Neighboring law enforcement agencies assisted JCPD during the chase.
