A Dry End to the Weekend, But a Rainy Start to Next Work Week
An upper level trough currently stationed over the far western United States will begin shifting eastward towards the Midwest Sunday night into Monday, bringing a chance for precipitation along with it.
Patchy drizzle is expected to begin moving into the Mid-Missouri region early Monday morning after 3AM and continue to spread eastward into late Monday morning and afternoon. For counties mainly to the north of HWY 36, temperatures are expected to hover near the freezing mark, which will make freezing drizzle a possibility for those areas Monday morning. Having said that, only a thin glazing of ice will be possible, as this system is not expected to be a heavy rain maker.
As temperatures warm into the upper 30s and lower 40s by the afternoon hours region wide, all the precipitation should be in the liquid form. By Monday evening the rain will begin exiting the region. Cooler temperatures will filter in behind the cold front, resulting in a slight possibility for the rain to make the changeover to snow Monday night. Only a couple of tenths of an inch of snow are possible, if any at all.
The dry weather pattern will resume Tuesday and persist through the rest of next work week.
