Warming weekend, rain & mix Sunday night

After six consecutive days with below freezing temperatures, we will finally warm up this weekend. Saturday morning will start with temperatures in the mid teens. It stays below freezing much of the day, reaching the low to mid 30s briefly in the afternoon with partly cloudy skies and light winds.

Winds shift to the south ushering in warmer air for Sunday. Temperatures will start off in the mid 20s, reaching the mid 40s by afternoon with partly cloudy skies and a southerly breeze near 10 mph.

An area of low pressure will move in from the southwest late Sunday night, tracking across central Missouri Monday. Light rain is forecast to develop after 3 AM Monday as temperatures warm. Some areas could still be at or below freezing as this rain moves in, causing it to freeze on contact. Right now it looks like areas north of I-70 could have minor icing before daybreak Monday but this will depend on the strength and position of the storm system. We will monitor this through the weekend and have updates on what to expect for your Monday morning commute.
