Several mid-Missouri roads remained covered with snow and ice Wednesday morning after a snow storm Tuesday.
The Missouri Department of Transportation’s travelers map indicated that several mid-Missouri roads were still covered including parts of Interstate 70 and Highway 63.
According to the map, I-70 was mostly still covered in Boone County. The map showed that the interstate cleared up by Cooper and Callaway Counties.
MoDOT reported at least one crash on I-70 Wednesday morning that was backing up traffic. It said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes around 7:30 Wednesday morning in Boone County. The crash was expected to impact traffic for about two hours.
Boone County’s Fire and Rescue Dispatch website indicated authorities had responded to at least four vehicle crashes since about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
The Columbia Public Works Department said it had a full crew in on Wednesday to treat and plow priority routes. Public works officials said thecrewfocused on first and secondary priority routes Wednesday and continued to treat roads with salt.
Public works officials said there was still areas of patchy slickness where salt was ineffective. The department is advising drivers use caution when traveling Wednesday.
ABC 17 News checked the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online traffic crash report Wednesday. It showed there were no fatal crashes in Troop F’s jurisdiction. Troop F covers central Missouri.
