Suspect on the loose after Cole County shooting, victim in hospital

One person was recovering Tuesday morning after being shot in Cole County.

The shooting happened on Starlite Drive around 10 Monday night, according to Captain John Wheeler with the Cole County Sheriff’s Department.

Wheeler said deputies responded to a verbal disturbance and several minutes later were notified of a shots fired call.

Deputies were then told one victim was being admitted to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

Cole County authorities are still searching for the suspect. They ask if anyone has any information regarding the shooting to call law enforcement.
