Snow beginning to fall in Cole Co., road crews preparing

Roads are becoming slick in Cole County as snow continues to fall Tuesday night.

Some blowing snow was reducing visibility by early evening. Jefferson City Police said there have been 14 crashes so far since Tuesday afternoon.

Jefferson City and Cole County Public have a full staff on board for the rest of the night.

Both departments started treating roads early Tuesday morning.

They’ve been able to keep the roads mostly clear and are waiting for more snow to come to clear off the roads.

Jefferson City Public Works said they will continue working on the streets all through the night.

“We have relief crews that will come in tonight. They’ll be on staff all night long. It will be a smaller crew but enough to handle all the situations in the overnight hours. Then we’ll come back full strength in the morning and get the roads in good shape for the morning commute,” said Britt Smith with Jefferson City Public Works.
