Number of crashes spikes as snow falls across Mid-Missouri

The snow continues to fall across Mid-Missouri Tuesday night and the number of crashes has increased through the afternoon due to hazardous road conditions.

At last check, authorities responded to 43 crashes since 7:00 a.m. in Boone County, according to Boone County Joint Communications.

Several crashes were seen along main roads where snow partially or completely covered highways.

Road crews are expected to continue to be out overnight clearing and treating roads.

Bryan Boyce, a Boone County Road Maintenance Supervisor, said “A lot of what I’ve seen is a lot of dry snow and the vehicles ahead of you were blowing snow around the road, which made visibility really difficult unless you had a lot of distance between you and the car in front of you.”
