Jefferson City Police respond to false bomb threat

A 51-year-old Cole Co. man was arrested Monday after Jefferson City Police were contacted about a possible bomb threat.

Police responded to a call about Max Sturgis, who worked at Sunoco Plastics off Maytag Drive.

The caller told police Sturgis allegedly put a box in an office and said the box had a bomb inside.

Sturgis apparently was making negative comments about another employee, then left the building.

Surgis was interviewed by police and arrested for a false bomb report.

Sunoco was evacuated and the package was deemed safe, though it did contain fireworks and was labeled as dynamite.
