Two Columbia men arrested following home invasion

The Boone County Sheriff’s department said two Columbia men were arrested Wednesday afternoon following a “weapons incident” in the 6200 block of East Circle Drive North.

Deputies said people living at the home reported two armed suspects forced their way in.

Four people in the home were threatened by the attackers before the intruders left.

No one was hurt during the incident.

A description of the suspects and their vehicles lead investigators to make two arrests a short time later.

Columbia police officers and Boone County deputies booked Robert Quay Worthington III of Columbia and Michael Joseph Chaney of Columbia after locating their vehicle.

Worthington was arrested on first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted robbery, four counts of third-degree assault and an outstanding warrant for both third-degree domestic and second-degree property damage.

His bail is currently set at $80,000.

Chaney was arrested on first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted robbery and four counts of third-degree assault.

His total bail is set at $77,000.

Both men remain in the Boone County Jail as of Wednesday night.
