Late week rain and snow chance

Another storm system will track across Mid-Missouri Friday, bringing light rain and a chance of snow from Thursday night through early Saturday. Out ahead of this system, winds will shift to the south, warming temperatures from Wednesday through Friday.

Forecast models are currently bringing this low pressure across central Missouri, moving it quickly into Illinois by early Saturday morning. At this speed and position, rain amounts would come in low with little to no snow accumulation. However, as the weekend gets closer, it’s possible the strength and track could change which will alter the forecast amounts.

Right now we expect light rain to develop after midnight Thursday night through Friday morning in the mild air with a tenth to a quarter inch of rain through Friday afternoon. As colder air moves in behind the storm system, a narrow band of snow is possible mainly along and east of HWY 63 Friday evening and overnight with light snow showers ending early Saturday morning as arctic air moves in, keeping our daytime highs in the 20s this weekend and nights in the teens.

Please check back for more details and updates through the week.
