Inmate dies in Jefferson City prison

Officials confirmed a prisoner died last week in Jefferson City.

On Monday, the Missouri Department of Corrections said Otis Smith, 80, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon from what appeared to be natural causes.

Smith was serving a life sentence with no chance for parole for a capital murder case from St. Louis.
