Police investigate possible armed robbery in Columbia

Columbia Police were called to the 4200 block of New Haven Road shortly before 4:30 a.m. to investigate an armed robbery.

Police tell ABC 17 News a driver stopped to check on a stranded motorist who was apparently lying on the ground while a white SUV was pulled off the side of the road. A second person then showed up, pulled out a gun and took money from the victim.

There was a report of gunfire, but no injuries. The suspects took off in the white SUV.

Officers said the suspects are two black males around six feet tall, who are still at large at this time.
