Average January weather in Mid-Missouri

The average January temperature is 29.7 degrees when averaging high and low temperatures over a period of 30 years. This is normally the coldest month of the year in Mid-Missouri with the average high temperature at 38 on the 1st and 40 on the 31st. Our warmest January on record occurred in 1933 with an average temperature of 42.1 while in 1977 we had the coldest January on record coming in at only 13.6 degrees for an average monthly temperature.

In the 70s we also had our snowiest January with 23.5 inches in 1979. The most snow in January in a 24 hour period fell in 1995 with a whopping 19.7 inches. Back in 1897 we had the wettest January with 6.87 inches of precipitation.

Clouds tend to stick around during our winter season and January is tied with March for the 4th cloudiest month of the year with on average only 50% possible sunshine.
