News Anchor/Producer
JOB DESCRIPTION: The essential duties of this position will include creating, organizing, writing, assembling and anchoring one-hour newscasts. The position will also be responsible for making editorial decisions, some assignments and assisting with management of the station’s news website and other online and mobile ventures.
SKILLS: The successful candidate will be expected to function within the framework of a research-driven news department that emphasizes source cultivation, enterprising and breaking news. Employee must have the flexibility to work in the modern newsroom and have a grasp on how stories are told in a multiplatform, “digital first” approach. The right candidate must be a strong writer, have good organizational skills and superior news judgment as well as a professional appearance, on-camera presence and superior communications skills. He/she will have an eye for video, graphics and the elements that convey urgency and importance in a live newscast. The candidate must work well under pressure, work well with other people and meet strict deadlines.
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position, scheduled five days a week with flexibility required by the employee.
EDUCATION: A college degree in journalism, communication or a related field is preferred. Previous newsroom experience is a plus.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The position will require operation of a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for business use. Candidate must pass a drug test, background check, and MVR check.
