Sheriff’s department bloodhound saves missing woman

The Camden County sheriff’s office confirmed a 75 year-old woman returned home safe Sunday night, thanks to the department’s bloodhound, Nutmeg.

Officials first got a call around dusk from a woman who was worried after learning her sister was missing. Deputies learned the victim called Life Alert on her cell phone, explaining she was lost in the woods behind her home in Linn Creek.

Troopers and sheriff’s personnel searched for about an hour and a half, but the light was fading and the woman’s cell phone was dying.

That is when Deputy Gary Cyrus and his K9 partner, Nutmeg, a female bloodhound, joined their efforts.

Nutmeg quickly found the woman, who was not hurt. She went back to her house to rest. One deputy end up hurting his foot searching in the dark.
