Missouri lawmakers file texting-while-driving bill

Several Missouri lawmakers have pre-filed bills in the House and Senate that would ban texting while driving in the state.

Currently, only those under the age of 21 are prohibited from reading and sending text messages while behind the wheel. Many legislators want that to change, citing safety reasons.

HB1377 would “prohibit anyone from sending, reading or writing a text message while operating a motor vehicle.”

Missouri is one of only four states that has a partial or no ban on texting while driving.
