Firefighters called to another fire at Johnson Products

For the third time in less than three months, firefighters have responded to reports of a fire at Johnson Products in Columbia.

The latest call went out shortly after 7 a.m. Monday. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the building, which sits just off Route B/Paris Road.

According to the Columbia Fire Department, the incident was brought under control within five minutes. No injuries were reported.

The fire is currently under investigation. The estimated damage is $5,000.

Today’s blaze marks the fourth reported fire at Johnson Products. The previous incidents occurred on May 9, 2013, October 1, 2015 and December 9, 2015.

Less than two weeks ago, a passing driver reported smoke coming from the business, which makes insulation materials. No one was hurt in that situation, and no cause has been determined.
