Fire escapes wood stove, burns mobile home in Callaway County

Fire escaped a wood stove, spreading from a shed to a Callaway County mobile home’s living room Saturday afternoon.

Millersburg Assistant Fire Chief Jason Bedworth told ABC 17 News the owner of the home in the 1400 block of Big Rock Drive, near the Little Dixie Lake, tried putting out the fire that started in a shed near the trailer. Soon, the fire broke through a window of the home, setting a couch on fire. The North Callaway Fire Protection District, Millersburg Fire Department and Central Callaway Fire District all helped put the flames out.

Bedsworth said while only the living room suffered damage from the fire, smoke and water affected other portions of the place. No one was taken to the hospital, Bedsworth said.
