Columbia City Council to discuss crime hot spots, nuisance property

The Columbia City Council is set to meet Monday night for a work session before 2015 comes to an end.

Council members are set to discuss the strategic plan and focus on three specific areas in the central, north, and eastern parts of Columbia.

The city will address a large concentration of nuisance properties that are sold by the county for delinquent property taxes.

They’ll also discuss a “crime hot spot” at Forest and Grand Ave.

City council members are expected to talk about a north Columbia neighborhood that has limited neighborhood association activity, where “there may be concerns about crime spilling over from Bodie Drive.”

East Columbia is also expected to come up in discussion, where there are code violations due to the mix of housing age and type in that area.
