Suspect in Mauller road stabbing now in custody

A man was arrested early Thursday morning who authorities say is a suspect in the stabbing in Boone County Monday night.

Detective Tom O’Sullivan with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirms Jammie Lee Buntyn, 25, of Columbia, was arrested as the suspect in the stabbing on Mauller Road.

Buntyn faces charges of armed criminal action, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. He’s being held on no bond.

O’Sullivan said earlier this week the department knew who the 25-year-old suspect was, and that he is the ex-boyfriend of a woman who lives on Mauller.

That woman’s current boyfriend was the victim. His injuries were not life threatening.

The call first came in around 5:30 Monday night off Mauller Road, just west of Highway 63 near Prathersville.

ABC17 News went back to the neighborhood Tuesday afternoon and spoke with the property manager of the duplexes, Russell Burton. The woman and the victim live there with her children.

He said the suspect also lived in the area, but left Tuesday morning in his car.
