Lennon announces candidacy for Boone Co. southern district commissioner

A former state official has announced she is running for Boone County southern district commissioner next year.

Brianna Lennon, a democrat, is a graduate of the University of Missouri law school. She has worked in the Missouri Attorney General and Secretary of State’s offices.

Lennon said she wants “to work to preserve our mix of urban and rural communities as we continue to grow.”

She said she will work to make sure residents’ concerns are heard. Lennon also said having a good working relationship with the city and transparency are two important things the county has done well, but could be better.

“I’m really interested in trying to implement things like an accountability portal, things that help citizens, reporters, really anybody that is a stakeholder in this county to be able to go find records, to find business contracts, find expenditures that the county makes,” she said.

There are four other candidates running for the position.

Karen Miller is the current southern district commissioner.
