Jefferson City Police announce holiday DWI enforcement campaign

The Jefferson City Police Department announced Wednesday that it will increase DWI enforcement around the holidays.

Additional officers will be on duty working overtime to keep impaired drivers off the road between December 18 and January 3.

According to police, 197 people were killed and 724 seriously injured on Missouri roads in 2014 involving impaired drivers.

During the Christmas holiday season in 2014, 50 people were killed and 272 were seriously injured, and 7 of the deaths were related to at least one drunk driver.
