Woman in serious condition following hit-and-run

A woman is in serious condition Tuesday night after getting hit by a vehicle.

Columbia police officers tell ABC 17 News that officers were dispatched just before 5:30 p.m. to the Highway 63 Connector southbound on-ramp to Highway 63 south.

At the scene, officers found a 24-year-old woman laying in the grass median.

Several witnesses said the woman was crossing the on-ramp when a car or truck hit her.

Investigators believe she hit between 5 and 5:20 p.m.

The woman was taken to an area hospital.

The Columbia police department is asking anyone with information about Tuesday’s hit and run to contact them at 573-875-TIPS.
