Jefferson City Fire Department trains for emergency rescue situations

The Jefferson City Fire Department went through training for emergency rescue situations Tuesday.

The training started at 10 Tuesday morning in Jefferson City.

Jefferson City firefighters used Missouri-American Water’s rock hill water storage tank as a training site for the drill.

Fire crews practiced a high angle rescue drill during the training.

About 1.5 million gallons of water sits in the bowl on top of the 150-foot tall storage tank. Jefferson City firefighters staged their training from the top of the tank.

Missouri-American Water said it works closely with JCFD on numerous projects, including the maintenance of about 1,000 fire hydrants in Jefferson City.
