Two people now charged after central Columbia shooting

ABC 17 News confirmed two suspects have been arrested and charged for a shooting in central Columbia Tuesday night.

Officers took Alex Perez Tunstall, 27, and Donnette Patterson, 53, into custody in connection to the shots fired near Fourth Avenue and Providence Road. Officers were first called around 6:52 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was in a car when another man began firing rounds at him, before he left in another vehicle. No one was shot, but the victim’s car was damaged in the gunfire. Police recovered multiple shell casings in the area.

Then about two and a half hours later, officers stopped a car matching the witnesses’ descriptions in the same area as the shooting.

Detectives believe Patterson drove Tunstall to the scene before and after the shooting, bringing him to her home.

Police say Tunstall admitted he shot at the victim after a fight earlier that night.
