Jefferson City Council to meet on pedestrian plaza

The Jefferson City Council Tuesday night is set to discuss the proposed closing of part of Chestnut Street.

ABC 17 News has been following the issue for months. The city council chose not to vote on the issue in October.

The request comes from Lincoln University, who wants to turn the section of Chestnut into a pedestrian plaza.

Opponents said it will make traffic worse in other areas near the university.

Because the proposal isn’t on the informal calendar, it will die if it doesn’t pass tonight.
