19-year-old man accused of selling drugs out of MU dorm room

A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday after officers smelled marijuana coming from a MU residence hall dorm room.

An officer went to Zachary Bannister’s room in Hudson Hall and searched his room after he gave consent.

The officer found drug paraphernalia including 2 scales, marijuana, two fake IDs, and an open, unlocked safe.

Bannister had another locked safe in the room that was also searched.

Court documents said the officer found about 30 ecstasy pills inside, along with about $420.

Records said Bannister told the officer he had the pills he sold to his friends for a rave concert.

Bannister said the money was given to him in advance by his friends, and that he had the scales so he could weigh the pills to “make sure he didn’t get ripped off.”

Bannister was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance near a school, possession of marijuana, possession of a fictitious license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
