Two dead after single-engine plane crash north of Keytesville

ABC 17 News has learned two people are dead in north central Missouri after a small plane went down about 45 minutes west of Moberly in Chariton County.

A citizen called to report the plane had crashed around 9:15 p.m. Sunday in a field near Izora City Avenue, off County Road 309, about eight miles north of Keytesville.

The Highway Patrol, the Sheriff’s Office and emergency crews found a single-engine Cessna 140, model year 1946, in a hay field.

Both people on board were pronounced dead at the scene. They are identified as Andrew Beautte, 40, of La Plata, and Dawn Harl, 38, of Des Moines, Iowa. Investigators believe Beautte was the pilot. The bodies were taken to the Boone County medical examiner’s office in Columbia, for an autopsy.

The FAA are expected at the scene Monday. Officials are still unsure where the plane took off and where it was heading.
