Areas of Dense Fog Expected to Develop Overnight
As the clouds associated with the patchy showers northern Mid-Missouri received this morning continue to exit the region, they will be replaced by another weather feature: fog.
Tonight, winds are expected to become light and high pressure is expected to move in, preventing much atmospheric mixing from occurring. This will make for the optimal conditions for the development of fog after midnight and into early tomorrow morning.
The densest fog is expected to develop east of the Highway 65 corridor, spreading across central and eastern Missouri and southward into the Missouri Ozarks. Visibilities will range from a half to a mile for some areas, with pockets experiencing less than a quarter of a mile visibility at times. The fog is expected to burn off from west to east by 9AM tomorrow morning.
At this time, no dense fog advisory has been issued.
