Columbia police investigate attempted armed robbery at park

Columbia police are looking for a suspect after an attempted armed robbery Saturday.

Officers responded to Douglass Park on North Providence Road around 7:15 p.m., according to Columbia police.

Police said a man with a handgun approached another man in the park. He demanded money, fought with the victim and ran away, according to police.

The suspect did not get away with any property and no one was hurt.

Police said the suspect is about 200 pounds with a tall build. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing.
