Boone County deputies arrest Columbia woman for drunk driving

Deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Columbia woman for drunk driving, among other charges, Monday night.

Deputies tell us a Columbia woman Deborah Barr, 51, hit a car with an adult and a minor. It happened on I-70 Drive Southeast near Wester Lane. The two people were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Before Barr hit the other car, deputies say she hit several mailboxes and a car in the 700 block of Easter Lane. They were dispatched to the scene on Easter Lane at 7:08 p.m. and found the mailboxes and the car. Barr had left the scene.

While deputies were investigating Barr, they discovered she was intoxicated. As they were taking her into custody, Barr resisted arrest and hit one of the deputies. The deputy was not injured.

Barr was arrested for the felony and misdemeanor of leaving the scene, two counts of second degree assault, resisting arrest, third degree assault on a law enforcement officer, failure to maintain proof of financial responsibility, and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.
