Two teens injured in early morning crash near Clark

A 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy are recovering in the hospital after a car crash early Sunday morning that left them seriously injured.

The crash happened at 1:52 a.m. on Highway 63 just north of Clark.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver, Garret Shelton, 18, fell asleep at the wheel.

The car went into the median and crossed into oncoming traffic before eventually hitting a guardrail and a tree.

Both passengers were taken to University Hospital in serious condition. Shelton was treated for minor injuries.
