Temperatures Plummet Tonight After Snow Graced Mid-Missouri Saturday Morning.

After a low pressure system brought a dusting of snow for many areas of Mid-Missouri Saturday morning and blustery, cold conditions throughout the day, cooler air has now begun to filter into the region behind a cold front, setting the entire region up for what is expected to be the coldest night it has seen thus far this season.

As the surface low continues its trek northeastward, a surface ridge of high pressure will begin to build over Missouri, allowing skies to clear and temperatures to plummet. The average low temperature for this time of year is 32 degrees, but all of Mid-Missouri will see about a -10 degree departure from that norm. The coldest temperatures will be in the northern portions of the region, where temps will likely be dropping into the teens overnight.

With light winds out of the north persisting for the first half of the night, windchill will also come into play, causing the air to feel like it is actually in the teens.

The cold weather will continue into Sunday morning, but, thanks to the return of southerly surface flow, temperatures will warm into the 40s by tomorrow afternoon and then will be back towards average in the 50s by Monday.
