Authorities arrest two after allegedly find them with marijuana
Two men are in the Boone County Jail Friday after authorities say they found them with more than a pound of marijuana.
Boone County sheriff’s deputies stopped 28-year-old Clyde Jones and 34-year-old Cleo Willis around 10:30 Thursday nightnear the intersection of Rangeline Road and Vandiver Drive in Columbia. Deputies said the pulled the car overfor expired license plates.
During the stop, deputies saidthey noticed a strong odor of marijuana. AK9 unit then helped them located more than a pound of marijuana in the vehicle’s trunk.
Inside the trunk deputies say they found a brick of compressed marijuana wrapped in plastic weighing slightly more than a pound was located.
Deputies say Jones is now facing possible charges for possession, distribution or manufacturing of a controlled substance and failure to register a motor vehicle. Jones could also face an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance inside a correctional facility after a deputy found a small amount of marijuana on Jones while he was being booked into the jail. Jones’ bond is set at $24, 595.
Deputies say Willis is facing possible charges for possession, distribution or manufacturing of a controlled substance. Willis was waiting for bond to be set as of Friday morning.
Willis and Jones had not been formally charged Friday.
