Trial starts Wednesday for man accused of armed robbery at Kaldi’s

The trial for a man suspected of robbing a Columbia coffee shop at gunpoint is scheduled for Wednesday.

Police said 50-year-old Anthony Paine forced himself into Kaldi’s Coffee off 9th Street 2 years ago before he robbed an employee with a gun.

The worker opened the back door earlier in the morning for someone else.

Paine was caught a few weeks later in St. Louis. He has had at least 11 prior convictions.
