Thousands flood Kansas City for Royals parade

A celebration 30 years in the making drew in thousands of Kansas City Royals fans to Kansas City Tuesday.

The Royals World Series parade started at around noon.

“It’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened in my lifetime living here in Kansas City. I’ve really not seen this many people anywhere, ever.”

It was a moment some Royals fans have been waiting for a long time.

“It’s like my daughter’s now 30 years old, cause she was a baby the last time we won it.”

Some others don’t remember the last time the Royals won.

“We have the Royals now and hopefully we can come back next year and take the crown again.”

Fans lined the streets of downtown Kansas City to welcome back the world champs.

Escorted by Kansas City Police officers, the parade included team managers, coaches, and of course, Slugger.

The players made the crowd erupt with excitement.

“Just seeing them roll down all these streets gave me goosebumps.”

Fans told ABC 17 the effect the series has had on the city has been outstanding and unforgettable.

Everybody’s just so happy and excited, and I’ve never seen the city like this. Definitely a city wide holiday I’ve been waiting for my whole life. The city is electric and I’m so excited to be here.”
