No election date set for new sales tax

ABC 17 News has confirmed Wednesday night a date has not been set a for a new Columbia sales tax.

The new tax would affect stores on the Business Loop in the central part of Columbia.

Over the summer, it was revealed a University of Missouri student was the only voter included in the district’s boundaries.

It was later determined there are actually 14 people living within the district.

Executive director of the LOOP CID, Carrie Gartner, said the county must double check and certify all of the voters at least 30 days before the election.

Once the voters are verified, an election date will be set.
