Driver facing possible charges for Cole Co. crash

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrested a Jefferson City man Saturday after a car crash in Cole County.

It happened around 12:20 a.m. on Route C near Chapel Valley Drive.

Stephen McGhghy, 27, drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected, skidded off the left side of the road and hit several trees, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Emergency crews took McGhghy to a local hospital for moderate injuries. Crews also flew passenger, Sherry Serrano, 43, to University Hospital.

Serrano remained in serious condition Saturday afternoon, according to hospital officials.

The highway patrol arrested McGhghy just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of vehicular assault and driving with a revoked license.
