Dixon City Marshal faces impeachment charge
ABC 17 News has confirmed Tuesday that the Dixon City Marshal faces impeachment after being indicted on more than a dozen counts relating to stealing and covering up evidence in the police department.
Michael Plummer was served with an impeachment charge and a suspension order from the Dixon Board of Aldermen Tuesday.
The suspension order will be in place until the outcome of the impeachment hearing, or until further notice from the Board of Aldermen.
The Mayor of Dixon released a statement saying, “The charges levied against the Marshal are taken very seriously by the elected leaders of the city of Dixon. When notification of the arrest was given the Mayor and Board of Aldermen acted swiftly to immediately explore options. We believe that the charge of impeachment is needed to rebuild the citizens’ trust in our law enforcement and in our city.”
Plummer was indicted last week on 16 counts that also include lying to the Pulaski Co. Sheriff about another police officer accused of stealing a car, covering up a DWI case, and stealing city-owned police lights.
Plummer’s wife, Sheila, is accused of reducing the water bill for her parents’ home while she was was on the job.
