Investigators looking into kidnapping in Osage County

An Osage County kidnapping victim is recovering Thursday night after spending the last several days in captivity.

Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon told ABC 17 News the woman was held against her will.

Dixon said the woman told deputies the three kidnappers were armed with AK-47s and were demanding money.

The woman also claimed the men are involved in a multi-county crime spree.

She told authorities in Osage County, she was finally able to escape after one of the men took her into a grocery store to get money.

While inside, she said she was able to get a message out that she was in trouble.

The Belle Police Department, Maries County Sheriff’s Department and Osage County Sheriff’s Department deputies intercepted the suspect’s vehicle.

Inside of the car, investigators discovered the kidnapper and the victim.

Sheriff Dixon told ABC 17 the woman also said two other armed men were at a mid-Missouri home.

Dixon said his office worked with Gasconade County Sheriff’s Deputies and conducted a search of the residence, but no one was inside.

Authorities are still searching for the two other men as of Thursday night.

No names have been released at this time.
