Tracking more dry time to enjoy today before widespread showers and storms Sunday

TODAY: I'm tracking a mild start to the day with temperatures in the mid-60s across the area. There will be a brief shot of spotty lighter showers during the morning hours, but by the afternoon, most should stay dry as temperatures warm into the low 80s. A mix of clouds and sun can be expected throughout the day as winds blow out of the northeast at 4-8 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking an increase in cloud cover as a storm complex enters from the west overnight. This will be making it into Central Missouri by the end of the night as temperatures cool down into the upper 60s and winds begin to shift into the southeast at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking widespread showers and storms lasting throughout the morning hours of Father's Day before decreasing in coverage by the lunch hour. A second round of potentially stronger storms is expected to form where this first round decays, most likely along and south of I-70. This line of storms will quickly sink to the south throughout the evening hours of Sunday, and total rainfall amounts could get up to 1-3" across Mid-Missouri by the end of the event, leading to a concern for flooding. After this, drier conditions are expected to return throughout Monday as sunshine gradually returns. It will be a slightly cooler start to the week as temperatures only get into the mid to upper 70s on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Low 80s can be expected for the rest of next week, but there will also be an increasing chance of more showers and storms returning by the end of the week.
