Two arrested after leading Callaway Co. authorities on chase

Callaway County Sheriff’s Department arrested two people after leading authorities on a chase Sunday morning.

Around 6:45 a.m., a deputy investigated a stealing offense at a convenience store in Kingdom City, according to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.

About 30 minutes later, a deputy found the suspect vehicle in Fulton on 4th Street near Westminster Avenue. The deputy tried pulling over the car, but the driver would not stop.

The driver led the deputy thorough Fulton and went into the Tanglewood subdivision off State Road HH. The car drove through grass near the golf course and hit a tree, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities found Nelson Barnes driving the car and Jordan Fort inside the car as well.

Barnes was arrested on suspicion of felony resisting arrest, stealing, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident among other things. He is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Ford was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. She is also being held in the Callaway County Jail.

The Fulton Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol helped with the chase.
