Fulton residents could recall council members
On Wednesday, Fulton residents told ABC 17 News they are preparing to recall five members of the Fulton city council.
Residents said city officials are not fulfilling the duties required of their jobs, as problems persist with fire equipment and turnover at the fire department.
Taxpayers believe the problems at the fire department pose a risk to public safety, and they are prepared to get a recall petition signed by voters.
Kathy Standbridge told ABC 17, “I’m going to give them 90 days to show that they are making some progress and showing some true effort in meeting these needs.”
City Administrator Bill Johnson said he works for the mayor and the council and has a very positive relationship with them, “My job as the city administrator of this community is not to make everybody happy. My goal is to just to make everybody happier. There are many different opinions across the community, and it’s a full-time job trying to balance the needs of the community.”
Standbridge wants the city to address low firefighter salaries, and broken equipment issues.
She said she and her group will move ahead with their recall if they are ignored.
