Moberly man charged with dealing drugs after running from police

A man is charged Wednesday in Randolph County, after reportedly running from police and getting caught with drugs.

Investigators told ABC 17 News they tried to pull over 26-year-old Jordan Taylor on Monday near Hagood and Rollins Street in Moberly, but said he refused to stop.

Officers would later find Taylor and arrested him in the 800 block of Myra Street. Taylor was hiding behind a shed there, according to court documents.

Authorities said they discovered meth, marijuana, packaging materials and cash during a search of Taylor’s car.

A nearby resident, who did not want to be identified, said she saw them search the car.

“I happened to look out my side yard, and I noticed two police cars over here,” she said. “And they were searching through this blue van. And he was searching it thoroughly and they took several bags out.”

Taylor admitted to having meth in his car, the court documents said. Taylor told detectives he had been selling it to make up for being laid off.

Neighbors said they are worried for what seems like a growing problem in Moberly.

“Meth is a terrible drug,” the woman said. “And I know these kids are using it, buying it and I just don’t wanna see any kid die.”

Cooper County Prosecutor, Eric Phelps was brought in for the case.

He charged Taylor with distribution of a controlled substance.

A Randolph County judge set Taylor’s bond at $100,000 cash surety.
